Elmore county covers more than 3,000 square miles, approximately 60% of which are mountains and the remaining 40% slope into the Snake River Plain. Elmore County altitudes range from 2,500 feet to over 9,700 feet, and the majority of property is owned by varying departments of the federal government including the U.S. Forest Service, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the Bureau of Land Management.
